There can be no doubt that the current US led maximization of uncertainty is a tax on spending and investment. I hear it everyday.

It also cannot be misunderstood that this is led by one man who believes the world revolves around himself, that he is the Sun-King and “We the People”are either for him, or against him. I for one stand against him in the strongest possible terms as he moves America and the world away from its best potential as he pursues policies personally beneficial to himself. We have never seen an American President so deeply selfish and with such scorn for our Constitution and its role in our culture.

It is virtually impossible to keep up with the destructive power of this administration and MAGA. While they have a cultish hold on a dwindling minority voting block, the opposition of “the people” as seen with over 8 million people on the streets on Saturday is deeply moving. The courts (ex-SCOTUS) are slowing down the calamity, while the MAGA Congress fiddles like Nero as America self-isolates itself and burns down our allies.

Make no mistake, this chaotic uncertainty is exactly the point and objective Trump seeks. By creating chaos and tweeting “Only I Can Fix It” 20 times a day he consolidated power amid a storm or confusion hitting the fan daily which overwhelms the system. No individual can follow a boss who is a hot mess of impulse and lacks any clear vision. Make America Great Again was Reagan’s campaign slogan. Trump in his completely lazy trademark style appropriated it for himself and creates whatever meaning he fancies in the moment.

China on the other hand looks stable to the outside world but the reality is that it’s just a derivative of world events with limited ability to protect its own choke points and allies. However, they play the long game even better than the US used to. There is no good reason the US and China couldn’t find common ground and mutual self interest. We are driving the world toward China with the only benefit being China is not experienced enough to capitalize.

The US is perceived in absolute chaos and I’ll leave it to Singapore’s Prime Minister to comment.

Note that Xi’s China Dream is inherently Han chauvinist, which lies behind his ethnic policies, and Trump is inherently white mainstream-centred, which shows up in his anti-DEI policies and violent crackdown on “migrants”.
