I’m not sure of our president’s timeline on manufacturing, but manufacturing jobs have actually declined every month since April Liberation Day.
It is my understanding that the US has been steadily losing manufacturing jobs since around the end of WW2, and Chinese growth did not materially impact this trend. And there has been huge OVERALL job growth even as manufacturing jobs declined.
While I won’t disagree that certain manufacturing jobs are vital for US security, I also understand that as countries get wealthier, services take on a larger part of the economy. I’m pretty sure the Bill Overholt wrote about this.
I also think that Trump doesn’t count services, of which the US has a trade surplus. They don’t like foreign students, while foreign students rarely,y get financial aid, and in actual fact significantly subsidize US students.
Just too much to even think about…
One question that I have is that, while countries are scrambling to do more business with us at the moment, how many of them, having lost confidence in us, are simultaneously trying to plan to be less dependent on the US in the future?
Will our economy be hurt longer term by our current unreliability??
And yes, Lutnick is a buffoon, and common to many of his ilk, he is quite arrogant.
But wait......There's more. Lutnick stole some of the 9/11 money from the families of the 700 + Cantor Fitzgerald families who lost someone that day. https://www.foxbusiness.com/features/9-11-settlement-distribution-stirs-ire-among-cantor-insiders

And I thought it was just me?! 😵💫
Thank you for pointing out the obvious, it certainly needs to be.
Unfortunately.
